Description

Guaranty Trust Bank plc was incorporated as a limited liability company licensed to provide commercial and other banking services to the Nigerian public in 1990. The Bank commenced operations in February 1991 and has since then grown to become one of the most respected and service focused banks in Nigeria.

In September 1996, Guaranty Trust Bank plc became a publicly quoted company and won the Nigerian Stock Exchange President’s Merit award that same year and subsequently in the years 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. In February 2002, the Bank was granted a universal banking license and later appointed a settlement bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in 2003.

Guaranty Trust Bank undertook its second share offering in 2004 and successfully raised over N11 billion from Nigerian Investors to expand its operations and favorably compete with other global financial institutions. This development ensured the Bank was satisfactorily poised to meet the N25 billion minimum capital base for banks introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2005, as part of the regulating body’s efforts to sanitize and strengthen Nigerian banks.

Post-consolidation, Guaranty Trust Bank plc made a strategic decision to actively pursue retail banking. A major re branding exercise followed in June 2005, which saw the Bank emerge with improved service offerings, an aggressive expansion strategy and its vibrant orange identity.

In 2007, the Bank entered the history books as the first Nigerian financial Institution to undertake a US$350 million regulation S Euro-bond issue and a US$750 million Global Depository Receipts (GDR) Offer. The listing of the GDRs on the London Stock Exchange in July that year made the Bank the first Nigerian Company and African Bank to be listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.

In December 2009, Guaranty Trust Bank plc successfully completed an offering of ₦13.165 Billion Fixed Rate Senior Unsecured Non-Convertible Bonds Due 2014 (Series I), being first tranche under the Bank’s ₦200 Billion Debt Issuance Programme.

  1. Though the attitude of some staffs were not really encouraging, but the quality of service was perfect

  2. The bank is usually adequately landscaped, good architectural design, proper illumination and adequately queued but has little or no seats for waiting customers

  3. They always have lovely structures and serene environment however there are always too many people in the bank even though the tellers try their best to provide prompt service

  4. GTB Bank branches are easily accessible & located, the banking hall are well illuminated & ventilated. The staff can do better in terms of service provision & ensure customers do nt waste too much time on the queue. The tellers & CCO’s should try work on their speed.

  5. They are very good with their architecture design..The bank is Always cool and well ventilated but mostimes they are slow with their services because of the crowd in the banking hall

  6. The bank has a slow service delivery to customers which allows for a large volume of queue in the banking hall.
The atm pays clean bank notes but also has queue. Customer care service delivery is on average

  7. GTB is the leading bank in terms of technology and innovations, structural designs especially their e-branches and GT-EXPRESS which makes transaction faster and easier. But I would love them to work on building more branches, and also work on their staff to be more polite as some put on cold attitude.

  8. Their hospitality is highly impeccable and their e-channels is user-friendly. Furthermore, Their branches have good proximity at designated locations.

  9. GTBank is one of the best in Nigeria. Their e-channel is verryyy good. The branches are easily accessible. Customer Care should be more polite. Congestion and overwhelming long queues in some of their branches.

  10. In the last 10 years, GT Bank has been one of the best, alongside Access bank. But to be honest, lately, GT’s standard has dropped, especially in their services and staff, compared to what we used to have a few years back. A good bank no doubt, but they can do better.

  11. Gtbank has been one of the top leading financial institution in Nigeria, staff should be mild-mannered and long queues in banks reduced to enable prompt service.

  12. Most GTB banks have beautiful landscaping, their staffs are always ready to assist, their services are encouraging, E channel is fair.

The staff were polite and friendly, and were very helpful in directing me to the right department. Their online banking is seamless, which enabled me carry out online transactions successfully.

  15. Gtb has one of the most organised banking hall but I must say some of the staff aren’t friendly. You know at times you try to smile with them and they just appear like the entire world is on them . So I understand that the business of the day can be quite demanding so that’s not really an issue for me though. However I must say they have a relatively user friendly application .

  16. Gtbank is a great bank but sometimes they have a very bad way of handling situations, a friend of mine once mistakenly transferred 100k to wrong account, they were there opening and closing the account in question till the person debit all the money and there was nothing to be done again 😡 so stupid bank sometimes 😏

  17. I have been banking with GTB for well over 6 years and i can say they are better than other bank around. One unique thing i like about them is the responsiveness of their echannels and live chat support on website and across their social channels but there is one thing i hate about GTB – their unnecessary charges!
